The Times They Are A-Changin

“ Come gather ‘round people

Wherever you roam

And admit that the waters

Around you have grown

And accept it that soon

You’ll be drenched to the bone

If your time to you is worth savin’

And you better start swimmin’

Or you’ll sink like a stone

For the times they are a-changin’ “

Bob Dylan

How true the words of this iconic song reflect the times we are living in today. We could say that Bob Dylan has resurrected himself as a contempory prophet. Another prophet of recent times was the late Stephen Covey who predicted as far back in 2004 in his book The 8th Habit that we were in for a dramatic Paradigm Shift brought on by the growing influence of the knowledge based era, but even he, I don’t believe could have predicted the rate of change and uncertainty we face today. I fully agree with Stephen Covey there is only one way to meet this Great Mountain which we will all have to encounter, and that is to fully realise our potential. In truth all potential is realised through how we meet adversity and challenge, let no one convince you otherwise. The Way of the Mountain is a programme I developed which is totally dependent on this principle and realisation that growth happens by accepting rather than denying adversity , someone once said commenting on Ernest Shackleton’s epic journey to Antarctica “ You wait we all have our Antarctica ”. Having the knowledge of how to meet this inevitable Mountain adventure is vital, so to quote from the above

“If your time to you is worth savin’

And you better start swimmin’

Or you’ll sink like a stone

For the times they are a-changin’”
